The project is launched with the aim of reducing energy consumption and achieving greater energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and values-based education in public preschool and primary schools in the municipality.
Edison Next, an energy services company and subsidiary of the Italian group EDISON, a leader in the energy market; has been the energy company selected by the Rivas Vaciamadrid City Council to launch a savings and energy efficiency program in the municipality's public preschool and primary schools.
With this project, the emission of more than seven tonnes of CO2 has been avoided between September 2021 and June 2022, and electricity consumption has been reduced by more than 6.9%. With all these figures, total economic savings of more than €24,504 have been achieved.
"This is a major commitment to decarbonization and energy efficiency in the schools of Rivas Vaciamadrid, which is already reducing consumption and achieving significant savings," explains Lázaro Heredero, Director of the Tertiary Business Unit at Edison Next Spain. "This project is undoubtedly a new step in continuing to turn the municipality into an example of a smart and sustainable city," Heredero continues.
To facilitate the decarbonization process in schools, Edison Next has incorporated a tool, Building Management Systems (BMS), which enables improved building management and control. In addition to obtaining detailed consumption information, IoT analytics achieves optimal building performance and excellence in operation and maintenance to improve energy efficiency.
"At Edison Next, we are working to promote efficiency and maximum energy savings through all available technologies, enabling a sustainable future not only for Spanish cities but also for the business sector," concludes the executive.
A comprehensive energy efficiency project in the schools of Rivas Vaciamadrid that fights climate change by implementing decarbonization strategies to reduce carbon emissions, generate a more sustainable economy, and ensure a green future.
