The contract, with a total budget of more than €2.1 million, provides for an initial duration of one year, with the possibility of extension for a second year, and will bring a significant improvement in the city’s operational and energy efficiency. Edison Next’s proposal was selected for its innovative approach, which combines the latest technological solutions with a firm commitment to energy efficiency and safety. The scope of the contract includes the maintenance of more than 17,800 lighting points, 19,400 luminaires, 25 sports facilities, 488 Christmas lighting features, 38 traffic light junctions and more than 110 control and mobility cameras, as well as the traffic management center located at the town hall. Among its main actions, Edison Next will implement an intelligent, centralized management model that will enable real-time monitoring of the status of lighting and mobility systems. This will be made possible through the deployment of advanced digital tools, enabling dynamic maintenance planning, advanced energy management and incident traceability. Furthermore, this will represent a step forward towards predictive maintenance and urban connectivity, facilitating more agile, precise and data-driven decision-making. The contract also includes a strong commitment to the decarbonization of public space through actions such as the progressive replacement of luminaires with high-efficiency LED technology and the integration of remote management systems in control units. It also includes the implementation of measures to optimize the electricity consumption of the installations, which will significantly reduce emissions associated with the municipality’s energy consumption. With this award, Edison Next reinforces its role as a strategic partner for public administrations in the advancement towards more sustainable, smart and resilient cities. In addition to its expertise in energy and environmental management, Edison Next brings its capacity to drive technological innovation applied to the urban environment, its customer-centric approach and its commitment to the continuous improvement of citizens’ quality of life. This new project will bring a significant improvement for the municipality and for the daily lives of its residents. Thanks to the modernization of the infrastructure, Sant Cugat del Vallès will enjoy a safer, more efficient and sustainable public space, with better night-time lighting, more agile urban traffic management and a greater capacity to anticipate and resolve incidents. Furthermore, the reduction in energy consumption will contribute not only to lowering CO₂ emissions, but also to optimizing municipal resources. In short, a city better prepared to face the challenges of the future, without compromising present-day wellbeing.
