At Edison Next we continue to reinforce our commitment to energy efficiency, urban sustainability and citizen wellbeing. We have recently been awarded the tender for the outdoor public lighting maintenance service for the municipal area of Calvià, in Mallorca — an important project that will allow us to actively contribute to the progressive improvement of local infrastructure and its energy efficiency.
This contract, with an initial duration of one year, provides for a possible extension of up to three additional years. The amount awarded for the first year amounts to €539,403, a figure optimized thanks to the reduction in the unit prices offered, which will allow more work to be carried out with the same resources. The estimated value of the contract, should all extensions be activated and future modifications taken into account, would exceed €2.5 million.
Unlike other one-off renovation works, this project is a comprehensive outdoor lighting maintenance contract, which includes preventive and corrective tasks throughout the entire municipal area. More than 15,000 lighting points, distributed across public roads, green areas, sports facilities and emblematic spaces such as fountains, churches and monuments, will be subject to continuous monitoring and attention.
One of the objectives of our project will be to minimize the impact of the works on the urban environment and local residents. At Edison Next, we have made a commitment that all tasks will be carried out to the highest environmental standards and with the lowest possible level of disruption to citizens.
Furthermore, the proposal we have submitted not only guarantees a high-quality technical service, but also allows, thanks to the economic efficiency achieved, for additional resources to be allocated to future technological improvements and partial system renovations, depending on the needs that are defined throughout the contract.
Better lighting will allow the municipality’s electricity consumption to be significantly reduced, with the consequent economic savings and a direct reduction in CO₂ emissions. It will also improve lighting quality in streets, parks and public spaces, increasing safety and comfort for residents.
This project once again reaffirms our commitment to the energy transformation of the municipalities of our country. At Edison Next, we continue and will continue working to offer solutions that unite sustainability, innovation and efficiency, at the service of cities and people.
