The energy transformation towards climate neutrality depends on young talent.

The competitiveness of our economy, social stability, energy sustainability, and the progress of our country largely depend on our ability to integrate young talent into organizations. That is why initiatives like ‘Reto E3’, promoted by Fundación Exit, in which EDF Fenice plays a key role, serve as an excellent lever to help the most vulnerable young people improve their skills and develop their talent to make a difference. Fundación Exit is an organization with over 20 years of experience in innovative training projects for vulnerable young people, driving joint solutions with the country’s leading companies to enhance the talent of vulnerable youth. The goal is to boost their professional future and their talent. At EDF, we are convinced of the need to incorporate this talent into our workforce, as thanks to these young people we will be able to continue advancing on the journey towards decarbonization and the circular economy. To this end, some of our colleagues have volunteered to share their knowledge, motivation, and drive to support the professional careers of these more vulnerable young people, who will closely observe the reality of our company, the labor market they face, and the opportunities offered by the energy sector. A role model or professional reference for these young people, who will get closer to the day-to-day of our activity in the environment of energy efficiency and renewable energies, a clearly growing sector that will undoubtedly become one of the main economic drivers on a global scale in the coming years. After more than 15 months of the pandemic, in an uncertain labor environment and with the limited opportunities many of these young people have, this type of project can become the beginning of a new horizon for the professionals who must join organizations in the immediate future. Youth unemployment is one of the greatest economic scourges our country suffers, reaching 39.5%. Additionally, we have a 17.3% school dropout rate, according to data from INE and Eurostat, respectively. That is why this type of initiative helps curb this dramatic situation for the best-educated generation in our history. An initiative that, moreover, aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and seeks to find the most suitable talent to achieve the long-awaited climate neutrality.
