Edison Next Spain presents a protocol for action during high temperature episodes.

Episodes of high ambient temperatures are becoming increasingly frequent, intense, and prolonged in Spain. For this reason, the In-House Prevention Service of Edison Next Spain has developed a protocol for action during high-temperature episodes to ensure the safety and health of our personnel during their outdoor workdays. This measure has been driven by the company’s People and Talent area and promoted by the team of Albert Puig, Health & Safety Manager BU Public. Likewise, the protocol has been led according to the guidelines established by Royal Decree 4/2023, which adopts measures in occupational risk prevention aimed at avoiding, minimizing, and controlling the risks associated with exposure to adverse climatic factors. As a fundamental strategic lever for business development, Edison Next promotes the highest standards of well-being among its workers, fostering working conditions that protect the psychophysical integrity and safety of individuals. To determine heat alert levels, delegation managers receive daily alerts via a mobile application issued by the State Meteorological Agency, or, where applicable, by the corresponding regional body. Thus, three types of alerts are identified: yellow, orange, and red. When an Orange or Red level warning is issued, according to the protocol of action set forth by Edison Next, the multinational adapts working conditions for its employees, reducing or modifying the scheduled workday hours to ensure the safety of all its employees. To ensure proper implementation of these general protection measures, Edison Next is informing and training all personnel on the risks related to high temperatures, as well as on preventive guidelines and emergency symptoms of heatstroke. Furthermore, among the measures currently implemented by the company, notable ones include planning employees’ work, staff rest periods, and breaks between working hours. This protocol will involve continuous monitoring of the effectiveness of the measures, as well as maintaining a record of heat-related accidents or illnesses, with the aim that the team leading this protocol can identify areas for improvement and help prevent future problems. Safety in the energy industry is a key priority for Edison Next. To this end, the company develops and evaluates appropriate safety measures in all work phases, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all its employees. It also fosters a culture of safety and prevention throughout the organization, promoting open communication and continuous collaboration aimed at identifying risks and improvements in occupational safety.
