The Rivas Vaciamadrid City Council awards Edison Next the development of a photovoltaic project worth 300,000 euros.
Edison Next, an energy services company and subsidiary of the EDISON energy group and the French giant EDF, has been the energy company selected to carry out a photovoltaic project by the Rivas Vaciamadrid City Council with an investment of 300,000 euros.
Specifically, Edison Next will be responsible for the supply and commissioning of photovoltaic panels for self-consumption in various municipal facilities in the city. The Rivas Vaciamadrid City Council aims to turn the municipality into a smart and sustainable city through actions that promote efficiency and energy savings.
With the most advanced technology in terms of solar panels, as well as auxiliary components, Edison Next’s comprehensive project management will generate 364,892 kWh of energy per year. Furthermore, the energy produced will prevent the emission of more than 120 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.
In the words of Jon Macías, Commercial and Marketing Director of Edison Next Spain: “This is a significant commitment by the Rivas Vaciamadrid City Council to turn the municipality into a more sustainable and intelligent environment. Thanks to projects like this, the public sector increasingly shows its degree of commitment and responsibility towards future generations. At Edison Next, we promote efficiency and maximum energy savings through comprehensive solutions and the most advanced technologies that guarantee a more sustainable future in urban environments.”
In this regard, efficient energy management in public facilities becomes a fundamental pillar for achieving significant energy savings. Thus, the administration has developed
other initiatives in the municipality, including a project started in public schools, also with Edison Next.
An initiative that arises with the aim of reducing energy consumption and facilitating the decarbonization of schools, improving environmental sustainability and promoting energy efficiency. With it, the administration achieved economic savings of more than €24,504 between September 2021 and June 2022 and prevented the emission of more than 7 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.
To achieve these figures, Edison Next incorporated the Building Management System (BMS) tool, which facilitates energy management and building control. Additionally, it allows obtaining detailed consumption information through the use of IoT analytics, which promotes optimal building operation and excellence in their operation, as well as in maintenance.
With all this, the new awarded photovoltaic project adds to the decarbonization strategies being implemented by the Rivas Vaciamadrid City Council, which aim to accelerate the fight against climate change, reducing energy consumption and guaranteeing a greener economy and future for its citizens.
