Edison Next and the Siero City Council present the first charging stations
The project starts with an initial investment of 1 million euros for the installation of 30 electric vehicle charging stations in the Asturian council.
Edison Next, an energy services company and subsidiary of the EDISON energy group and the French giant EDF, and the Siero City Council have today presented the first models of electric car charging stations in the Asturian council with the aim of boosting electric mobility in Asturias.
The project that inaugurates this event marks an important milestone for the council, as it is the start of an initiative that will transform mobility in the area. Specifically, the initiative includes the installation of 30 electric vehicle charging stations equipped with 66 charging points that will be strategically distributed in Pola de Siero, La Fresneda, Lugones and El Berrón. Furthermore, as announced by Edison Next, of the 30 chargers, 24 will be semi-fast, and the remaining 6 will be 150 kW fast chargers.
With a total power of almost 1.5 MW, this ambitious project aims to provide accessible and efficient charging infrastructure, facilitating the transition to electric mobility and contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, thus promoting a more sustainable and healthy environment for residents and visitors of the Siero council.
The charging stations for electric and hybrid vehicles will be strategically located in public parking lots, health centers, or near sports centers, thus facilitating access for all users and increasing their use. The chargers will be connected to the main roaming networks to maximize their visibility and accessibility. Additionally, all chargers will be equipped with accessible payment systems, allowing the use of both Edison Next RFID cards and any mobile technology and bank card.
With an initial investment of 1 million euros by Edison Next, the company demonstrates its firm commitment to the development of sustainable mobility, which it recently announced would be one of its main bets for the coming years. Furthermore, Edison Next has taken on the challenge with responsibility and efficiency, committing to complete the installation of all charging points within a maximum period of four months.
The inauguration of these innovative charging points, which took place in the municipality of Pola de Siero, was attended by the mayor of Siero, Ángel García, accompanied by part of his
team, such as Patricia Antuña, councilor for Mobility. In addition, the event was also attended by several representatives of Edison Next Spain, including Iñigo Bertrand, CEO, José Luis Lastra, Senior Advisor B2B, Martha Senra, Head of Digital & IT and Patxi Larburu, Head of North Agency.
