GREENING, ATLANTICA AND EDISON NEXT JOIN FORCES TO BECOME A LEADER IN THE BIOMETHANE MARKET
Greening, Atlantica and Edison Next have partnered with the aim of developing a biomethane project portfolio with a capacity of 907.4 GWh.
Through this strategic agreement, the three companies will jointly participate in the development of a portfolio comprising 17 energy projects. Located in Spain, three of them will begin the construction phase in 2026, specifically two in Andalusia and one in Castile and León.
With this operation, Greening, a global and diversified company focused on the generation, construction of projects and commercialization of renewable energy, which has been developing a strong commitment to biogas since 2023, seeks to consolidate its presence in the biomethane business. Its commitment to biogas reflects, on the one hand, the company’s operational, technological and financial adaptability to generate business lines in a highly dynamic and demanding market.
Likewise, this positioning is aligned with the focus on the development of renewable energies that has marked the company’s trajectory since its origins, promoting solutions based on the circular economy that contribute to reducing CO2 emissions through the valorization of agricultural and livestock waste. Greening’s multi-technology strategic approach is complemented by photovoltaic, wind and BESS (batteries).
For its part, Atlantica brings the experience of a very consolidated company in the renewable energy sector. Present in 12 countries and with an annual turnover exceeding $1.1 billion, it has a portfolio of 2.2 GW of installed renewable energy capacity in operation. Thus, it has an ambitious growth plan for the coming years and its project portfolio under development reaches 3 GW of renewable energy and 12.0 GWh of battery storage. With this alliance, Atlantica enters the biogas sector and bets on new alternatives for clean energy generation, with excellent development prospects in the coming years.
Completing this trio of companies is Edison Next, the Edison company that leads customers and territories on their path towards decarbonization with over 20 years of experience in energy and environmental services. With extensive experience, it implements projects in energy efficiency, renewable energies and the circular economy to help customers reduce energy costs, improve their competitiveness and minimize their carbon footprint.
Edison Next offers comprehensive services throughout the entire value chain, covering all stages: from initial consulting, through engineering and construction, operation and maintenance, to comprehensive asset management. With this agreement, the company seeks to expand its biomethane project portfolio and position itself as a national benchmark in renewable gas production.
