Edison Next will improve and manage the public lighting and urban mobility of Sant Cugat del Vallès.
The Sant Cugat del Vallès City Council has awarded Edison Next Spain the comprehensive management of maintenance, conservation, and improvement of public lighting and urban mobility systems in the municipality. The contract, with a total budget of over 2.1 million euros, has an initial duration of one year, with the possibility of a one-year extension, and will bring a significant improvement in the city’s operational and energy efficiency.
Edison Next’s proposal was selected for its innovative approach, combining the latest technological solutions with a firm commitment to energy efficiency and safety. The scope of the contract includes the maintenance of more than 17,800 light points, 19,400 luminaires, 25 sports facilities, 488 Christmas lighting motifs, 38 traffic light intersections, and over 110 control and mobility cameras, in addition to the traffic management center located at the city hall.
Among its main actions, Edison Next will implement an intelligent and centralized management model that allows real-time monitoring of the status of lighting and mobility systems. This will be possible thanks to the deployment of advanced digital tools, enabling dynamic maintenance planning, advanced energy management, and incident traceability. Furthermore, this will represent a step forward towards predictive maintenance and connectivity of the urban environment to facilitate more agile, precise, and data-driven decision-making.
The contract also includes a significant commitment to decarbonizing public spaces through actions such as the progressive replacement of luminaires with high-efficiency LED technology and the integration of remote management systems at control points. Likewise, measures to optimize the electricity consumption of the facilities are included, which will notably reduce emissions associated with the municipality’s energy consumption.
With this award, Edison Next reinforces its role as a strategic partner for public administrations in advancing towards more sustainable, intelligent, and resilient cities. In addition to its experience in energy and environmental management, Edison Next brings its capacity to drive technological innovation applied to the urban environment, its “customer-centric” approach, and its commitment to the continuous improvement of citizens’ quality of life.
This new project will bring a significant improvement to the municipality and the daily lives of its residents. Thanks to the modernization of infrastructure, Sant Cugat del Vallès will enjoy a safer, more efficient, and sustainable public space, with better nighttime lighting, more agile urban traffic management, and a greater capacity to anticipate and resolve incidents.
Furthermore, the reduction in energy consumption will contribute not only to decreasing CO₂ emissions but also to optimizing municipal resources. In short, a city better prepared to face the challenges of the future, without sacrificing present well-being.
