Can we optimize energy processes during holidays without interrupting our industrial clients’ production?

In the middle of summer, when much of the country slows down and many factories adjust their activity for the holidays, new opportunities arise to optimize energy processes in the industrial environment. At Edison Next Spain, we know this well. Even when production doesn’t come to a complete halt, ideal opportunities emerge to detect inefficiencies, redefine strategies, and implement measures that sustainably improve performance. The question we are asked every summer is, “Can you do it without us interrupting our production?” and the answer is always the same, “Of course, thanks to anticipation, digitalization, and the design of customized plans that understand the specific rhythms of each industry.” For many industrial sectors we work with, for example; food, chemical, or pharmaceutical, among others, completely stopping production during the summer is not feasible. However, the partial decrease in activity, shift changes, or lower usage of certain lines offer us an excellent opportunity to intervene without disruption. Digitalization is one of our great allies to achieve this. Thanks to energy analysis tools, Edison Next monitors the behavior of more than 25,000 industrial assets in Spain in real time. Thus, we detect inefficiencies even when the plant is operating normally, and we act without the need for a total shutdown. Furthermore, the use of artificial intelligence models, such as our Iris tool, allows us to anticipate failures or deviations weeks in advance, thereby being able to schedule interventions for times when the operational impact is lower. It is not necessary to stop all production to implement improvements. A change in control algorithms, an update to the lighting system, or an adjustment in HVAC management can translate into energy savings of 10% to 20%, even during periods of reduced activity. At Edison Next, we propose a series of essential measures to optimize energy processes both in the summer months and beyond. Firstly, adjustments to HVAC, adapting temperatures and energy consumption to actual occupancy to avoid overconsumption. Secondly, taking advantage of the summer months, with periods of lower demand, to carry out predictive maintenance of critical equipment, thus minimizing productivity slowdowns. And finally, remote and intelligent management of facilities through digital platforms such as our BMS systems, which allow detecting and correcting energy deviations in real time, thus guaranteeing efficient and continuous operation. Summer may be synonymous with disconnection for many, but for Edison Next it is also an opportunity to continue driving the energy transformation of the industrial sector. If you were thinking about how to take advantage of this summer to improve your plant’s performance without stopping your activity, talk to us and we will help you make it possible, with technical, digital, and sustainable solutions that will deliver results from the first day to the last.
