Edison Next, Global Energy Partner of InLeit’s new factory in A Coruña

EDF Fenice, an EDF subsidiary dedicated to energy services and specialized in Energy Efficiency and Photovoltaic Self-Consumption solutions for the business sector, has completed an innovative energy project at the new factory built by InLeit in the town of Teixeiro, A Coruña, which has received an investment of nearly 130 million euros to become one of the most modern plants in Europe. The new facility began construction two years ago and, in recent weeks, has passed the tests to reach maximum capacity, as soon as the product begins to be marketed. This project will allow InLeit, one of Spain’s major references in the production and distribution of dairy ingredients, to receive the supply of key energy vectors for its operation (compressed air, steam, industrial cold, cooling water, and osmotized water) through a new Energy Center, as well as to know their status, real-time consumption, and the main operating variables. EDF Fenice, as a Global Energy Partner, has tackled the entire project, from the definition, design, and construction tasks, to the subsequent support services for its management, which will allow this ambitious project to have a guaranteed supply of energy vectors and full visibility of the operation of its energy facilities, as well as to optimize its consumption to the maximum. The company specializing in energy efficiency solutions provides an innovative business model, which assumes 100% of the associated investment and guarantees compliance with a series of performance indicators (KPIs), committed by both parties, through a 10-year energy services contract. A team of specialists from EDF Fenice has been operating continuously for months at the facility, providing management, operation, and maintenance services and guaranteeing the reduction of the carbon footprint of InLeit’s new factory. As highlighted by the Director of Key Accounts at EDF Fenice, Ignacio Asenjo, “our extensive industrial experience, and specifically in the dairy sector, allowed us to offer InLeit a solvent and competitive solution, from a technical and financial point of view, providing a differential value that covered all their needs.” The Energy Center, already operational, has an energy management system that supervises and centralizes all facility information in real-time and identifies any drastic changes in performance data, which speeds up support services, detects any anomalies, and allows for rapid preventive intervention, in order to guarantee the supply, in quantity and quality, of the energy vectors. Similarly, augmented reality technology has been incorporated into the plant, facilitating the work of operators and maintenance personnel when managing the facilities and optimizing the client’s consumption. As recognized by Tristán Jusué, head of InLeit, “for the company, which has permanent innovation as one of its main pillars, it is a great step forward to have a high-level solvent partner like EDF Fenice, integrated into our production system and value chain, and to know our energy consumption in detail at all times, to improve the productive efficiency of the facilities, reduce the carbon footprint, and contribute to a more sustainable future for our activity.” Industry 4.0 Real-time access to the data provided by the EDF Fenice system facilitates an immediate response to any incident, which translates into significant advantages for the client, facilitating its subsequent study and analysis with tools typical of Industry 4.0. As Ignacio Asenjo concludes, “the signals from all assets are collected by our advanced digital management platform and are available in the cloud, so that InLeit can consult and manage them, at any time and place, from an application, Internet, mobile phone, or tablet.”
