Ibiza lights up this Christmas with more sustainable, efficient, and people-centered lighting.
The contract awarded to Edison Next encompasses all phases of the project, from creative planning to final dismantling. In addition to installing the luminaires, Edison Next will manage the system’s energy efficiency, supervise the daily operation of the installations, and ensure that all lighting operates with maximum safety, quality, and respect for the urban space.
This environmental commitment is complemented by a rigorous technical and operational approach. Throughout the campaign, a specialized team is responsible for monitoring the lighting, preventing incidents, and ensuring that each light point shines with optimal intensity. The choice of high-durability LED luminaires will contribute not only to reducing consumption but also to minimizing waste and extending the useful life of the decorative elements.
Beyond its visual impact, Christmas lighting has become a key element for enhancing the cultural and economic identity of the Ibizan city. The lighting creates atmospheres that encourage walking, invite local commerce, and help revitalize activity during an essential time for residents, businesses, and visitors.
With this project, Edison Next reaffirms its commitment to cities that bet on a sustainable and more people-centered Christmas. Because for Edison Next, every lit light, in addition to illuminating the streets, also lights the way towards a kinder, more efficient urban model prepared for a responsible future.
Furthermore, this Christmas project adds to Ibiza’s renewed commitment to a more efficient and sustainable public lighting model, which the City Council is developing together with Edison Next. Over the previous months, Edison Next has carried out the modernization of urban lighting, replacing 1,475 old luminaires with new, state-of-the-art LED technology ones. This intervention will reduce municipal energy consumption by 41.5%, prevent the emission of 64 tons of CO₂ per year, and improve the visual quality of the streets with warmer, more environmentally respectful lighting. Thus, Christmas lighting and public lighting share the same purpose of moving towards a more efficient, more cared-for Eivissa, prepared for a responsible energy future.
