Edison Next will illuminate the Montijo Track in Chipiona with a solar photovoltaic LED lighting system.

At Edison Next, we remain committed to sustainability and efficient energy use through the development of projects that benefit local communities. On this occasion, we have been awarded the tender promoted by the Mayor’s Office of the Chipiona City Council for the installation of a solar photovoltaic LED lighting system on the Montijo Track, one of the main access routes to the Montijo and Valdeconejos area in Chipiona (Cádiz). The Montijo Track is a heavily used public road that has become one of the main entrances to this rural area. However, until now, it lacked an adequate lighting system, posing a risk to pedestrians and vehicles, especially at night. This project, essential for road and pedestrian safety, aims to provide this stretch with suitable ambient lighting to improve visibility. The proposal submitted by Edison Next for this project not only addresses the need to illuminate the road but also adds value by being designed with sustainability and efficient resource use in mind. To this end, we have decided to opt for an autonomous solar photovoltaic solution, which allows for energy self-consumption without relying on the conventional electrical grid. This system consists of isolated light points, equipped with LED technology and efficient batteries to store the energy generated by the solar panels. One of the main advantages of this solution is that it does not require underground conduits or infrastructure, which will significantly reduce the environmental impact of the installation work and the investment in civil works. The photovoltaic system’s ability to generate energy autonomously ensures that the lighting operates without harming the natural environment or generating waste. Furthermore, this type of installation allows for high adaptability to the energy needs of each section and its circumstances, adjusting lighting levels according to the time of year and optimizing energy consumption. At Edison Next, we will set lighting levels based on the needs of the Montijo Track to avoid wasting resources, and these can be adjusted according to the time of day and sunlight intensity. This ensures the system is energy efficient. On the other hand, at Edison Next, we are committed to using best practices to minimize the environmental impact of all projects we implement. In this case, during the execution of the works, we will take measures to reduce noise disturbances and other alterations in the area, ensuring that the installation process causes minimal inconvenience to residents and road users. This project is one of the many initiatives we are developing in collaboration with municipalities to promote sustainability and the use of renewable energy throughout Spain. The commitment to solar photovoltaic technology that we advocate at Edison Next, in addition to improving safety and energy efficiency, contributes to the development of a model of decarbonized and more sustainable cities and towns. Furthermore, being an autonomous system independent of the electrical grid, these initiatives help reduce the carbon footprint of municipalities, aligning them with global sustainability goals.
