Edison Next and APD analyze the keys to business decarbonization in the Valencian Community.

Edison Next, an energy services company and subsidiary of the EDISON energy group and the French giant EDF, and APD, an independent non-profit organization, held the business forum “The Journey to Decarbonization in the Company” today in Valencia, with the aim of addressing the keys to decarbonizing the Valencian business fabric. The event began with the presentation of the meeting by Iñigo Parra, president of APD Levante, and Manuel Rosales, Director General of Industry of the Generalitat Valenciana, who highlighted the importance of the fight against climate change and the decisions to be made in the coming decades in this regard, which will shape the future of energy. Following the presentation of the meeting, Iñigo Bertrand, CEO of Edison Next, began his speech. The businessman mentioned the importance for companies of having an energy partner to accompany them in their decarbonization process and highlighted Edison Next’s value proposition, focused on offering comprehensive and customized solutions for the decarbonization of its clients. “Our comprehensive approach ranges from identifying opportunities to improve energy efficiency and managing energy savings certificates, to developing renewable energy initiatives and circular economy projects, always ensuring coordinated and effective execution in all the initiatives in which we participate,” Bertrand stated. Likewise, the CEO of Edison Next reiterated on several occasions the importance and effectiveness of the Energy Savings Certificates (CAEs) system in achieving the sustainability and climate change goals that Spain has set for 2030. In the executive’s words, “the Energy Savings Certificates (CAE) system has become a tool that truly adds value and promotes energy efficiency in Spain, as it has already done in countries like France or Italy. Thanks to this, we are significantly increasing the number of companies that consider implementing energy efficiency and sustainability projects.” The event concluded with a round table discussion, where decarbonization was discussed as an opportunity and tool to improve and boost the competitiveness of companies. The round table, moderated by Fernando Ibáñez Ferriol, vice president of the Club of Responsible and Sustainable Companies of the Valencian Community, featured Ignacio Valls, Group Sustainability Manager of Dacsa; Iñigo Bertrand, CEO of Edison Next; and Manuel Villena, director of the Faerch factory in Buñol. Throughout the participants’ interventions, the importance of companies adopting urgent decarbonization measures that contribute to mitigating climate change and ensuring long-term sustainability, both at the business and global levels, was emphasized. Likewise, the participants highlighted the peace of mind they have experienced when undertaking the path toward decarbonization accompanied by an energy partner that, thanks to its experience, has been able to optimize and maximize both the environmental and economic profitability of the projects. For his part, Manuel Villena, director of the Faerch factory in Buñol, shared his company’s experience following its first self-consumption project. “On one hand, we are avoiding the emission of 533 tons of CO2 per year and, in this way, obtaining savings. Given the success of this first initiative, we have decided to expand the project with a second photovoltaic plant, already planned and on which we are working in collaboration with Edison Next. These initiatives help us achieve and meet our sustainability goals,” Villena stated. Meanwhile, Ignacio Valls, Group Sustainability Manager of Dacsa, highlighted the benefits that can be obtained from the self-consumption and energy efficiency initiatives they have developed so far. Specifically, Ignacio focused on the company’s upcoming photovoltaic installation at its factory in Seville, in collaboration with Edison Next. “By combining these initiatives with our sustainable investments, we can increase our ambition in reducing emissions. In this specific case, the Seville factory will be able to self-consume renewable energy without having to make the investment in the photovoltaic plant,” Valls reaffirmed. This event provides a conducive environment for the exchange of ideas, where the keys to the transition toward a sustainable economy and business activity in the Valencian Community were analyzed. Experts emphasized the need to promote collaboration between different sectors and to adopt favorable public policies. Likewise, the need to integrate renewable energies, improve energy efficiency, and foster the circular economy was highlighted, as these are essential pillars to ensure a better future.
