Edison Next executes a dual photovoltaic project at IVECO’s factories in Madrid and Valladolid.
Edison Next Spain, an energy services company and subsidiary of the EDISON energy group and French giant EDF, is carrying out a dual photovoltaic self-consumption project at the facilities of IVECO’s factories in Spain, a leader in the manufacturing and marketing of industrial vehicles.
Both complexes, located in Madrid and Valladolid, have an installed capacity of over 1.3 MWp; in addition to 2,388 and 2,380 modules of 550 Wp respectively, with an estimated solar production of more than 1,870 MWh per year. Furthermore, the energy produced by these new installations will prevent the emission of 500 tons of CO2 per year.
To carry out these photovoltaic self-consumption projects, Edison Next Spain has opted for the PPA service model, which allows it to make the investment and handle maintenance, while the client acquires an energy purchase service at a known price for years. This alternative reduces investment risks due to technical issues and generates economic and energy savings from day one for IVECO Spain.
Similarly, the energy specialist provides a multisite management system for the proper execution of both photovoltaic projects and the monitoring of both the energy generated and consumed at each plant.
Likewise, Edison Next has been responsible for the commissioning and maintenance of the photovoltaic installation, which features the most advanced technology, both in terms of solar panels and auxiliary components.
“When we talk about being a zero-emission company, we also talk about another important pillar: our production processes and our entire value chain. Our Spanish factories, highly competitive in technology and innovation, are focused on producing with fewer emissions and being more efficient. We are currently using 100% renewable energy, and 80% of the water used in manufacturing is recycled,” says Álvaro Arroyo, Director of Institutional Relations and Sustainability at IVECO Spain.
“This new project with Edison Next is another step in our sustainability strategy, helping us become self-sufficient with photovoltaic panels,” adds the director.
“At Edison Next, we greatly value collaboration with leading companies in their sector like IVECO. This dual photovoltaic project is a concrete example of how collaboration between companies can be key to developing innovative and sustainable projects. We are proud to join forces with IVECO to drive the energy transition towards a cleaner and more efficient economy, contributing to climate change mitigation and environmental preservation. Photovoltaic energy is an innovative and effective solution to reduce the carbon footprint and promote sustainable development. We are confident that this project will be a success and look forward to continuing to collaborate with IVECO on similar initiatives in the future,” explains Jon Macías, Commercial and Marketing Director of Edison Next Spain.
Edison Next Spain’s commitment to sustainability and new renewable energy sources is part of its sustainable strategy to become a European specialist in efficient and renewable energy solutions. The energy company has its sights set on a more sustainable future and works every day to make its renewable energy solutions accessible to all and contribute to the fight against climate change.
“At Edison Next, we are committed to the transition towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly energy model. We believe that the adoption of renewable energy technologies, such as solar energy, is key to achieving this goal, and we are dedicating our efforts to supporting innovative projects in this field. We are convinced that, through collaboration and teamwork, we can build a more sustainable future for everyone,” explains Jon Macías, Commercial and Marketing Director of Edison Next Spain.
With photovoltaic projects like those at IVECO, Edison Next Spain is consolidating itself as a benchmark in the development of renewable energy solutions in Spain.
