International Day of the Sun: the power of solar energy for a brighter future
On the occasion of International Sun Day, celebrated on June 21st and coinciding with the start of the summer solstice, we recognize the potential and benefits of this energy source.
Solar energy is one of the key solutions for addressing current sustainability and climate change challenges. That is why, at Edison Next Spain, we are committed to promoting and adopting solar technologies, especially through Photovoltaic Self-Consumption.
Solar energy is a clean and renewable option that offers a unique opportunity to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and carbon emissions. By harnessing the sun, we can generate electricity sustainably and environmentally friendly, without compromising the quality of life for future generations. It is a smart and profitable long-term investment.
At Edison Next Spain, we have been leading the way in implementing Photovoltaic Self-Consumption systems in companies, industries, and public entities. In this way, we help numerous clients make the most of the sun’s power, providing them with customized and efficient solutions that adapt to their specific energy needs.
Thus, numerous projects have been carried out in various sectors during their first year of operation. To name just one example, by the end of 2022, a total of 19 projects were installed, reaching 32 MW in projects in the pipeline.
These self-consumption projects have not only reduced energy costs but have also significantly decreased the carbon footprint. They are clear examples of the potential of solar energy to provide economic and environmental benefits, demonstrating its role in the energy transition.
Notably, our double Photovoltaic Self-Consumption project at IVECO. Specifically, the photovoltaic installation located at the IVECO Madrid plant has an installed capacity of 1,301 MWp, distributed across 2,366 modules of 550 Wp. The project is estimated to generate over 1,905 MWh of clean energy per year.
Meanwhile, at the IVECO factory in Valladolid, Edison Next Spain has launched an installation with an installed capacity of 1,309 MWp. Similarly, it houses 2,380 modules of 550 Wp with an estimated solar production of 1,882 MWh per year.
With all this, at Edison Next Spain we firmly believe in the power of the sun and its ability to transform how we obtain and consume energy. As we move towards a world more aware of the importance of renewable energy, it is essential that more companies and industries adopt solar technologies and take advantage of the benefits they offer.
