Edison Next promotes the delivery of Energy Savings Certificates with the aim of achieving greater energy efficiency savings.

At the beginning of the year, the Government approved Royal Decree 36/23 regarding the establishment of the Energy Savings Certificate System (CAES). This is a new measure to achieve the energy savings targets proposed by the European Union in a more efficient and flexible manner. CAEs certify the final energy savings obtained by carrying out energy efficiency projects, offering the opportunity to monetize those savings and receive financial incentives. In this regard, any measure implemented by both private and public entities that saves final energy can benefit from this system, which will be endorsed by regional administrations and independent verifiers such as Edison Next. The company, which has extensive experience in the Italian and French markets, will manage the CAEs in Spain. How do they work? · These certificates are suitable for any project launched after January 24, 2023 that generates final energy savings. · They are issued only once for the equivalent of one year’s energy savings. · They expire 3 years from the project’s launch or on January 1, 2031. On the other hand, there are two types of projects that can generate CAEs, including standardized projects and unique projects. At Edison Next, we are qualified to handle both. In this vein, Energy Savings Certificates will mark a significant milestone on the path towards more effective and flexible energy efficiency in Spain, as they will play a fundamental role in allowing companies with energy savings obligations to have another alternative to meet their commitments effectively. In this sense, CAEs represent a paradigm shift in energy efficiency in Spain. Without going any further, the National Energy Efficiency Fund estimates that they will channel a cumulative investment of more than 41,000 million euros over the decade. Of this figure, approximately 30%, that is, around 12,500 million euros, will come from the application of the catalog of actions in various productive sectors, as established by the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC). Ultimately, Edison Next’s commitment to managing certifications of this type represents a further step in the transition towards a more sustainable and efficient future. Demonstrating not only its environmental commitment, but also its determination for other companies and organizations to also adopt it.
