The Balearic Institute of Energy awards Edison Next the execution of the photovoltaic installation on the roof of the Santa Gertrudis School in Ibiza.
Edison Next, an energy services company and subsidiary of the EDISON energy group and the French giant EDF, has been the energy company selected by the Balearic Institute of Energy (IBE) to execute a photovoltaic installation on the roof of the Santa Gertrudis School, located in the municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu in Ibiza.
Thanks to the use of the most advanced technology in terms of solar panels, as well as auxiliary components, the photovoltaic installation awarded to Edison Next will generate an estimated total solar energy of 74,300 kWh/year. This energy, generated sustainably, will prevent the emission of 37.71 tCO2/year into the atmosphere.
It is essential to highlight that sustainability in education is reflected not only in the field of teaching but also in the infrastructure that supports it. Therefore, the Balearic Institute of Energy’s commitment to projects like this demonstrates the dedication of educational institutions to a cleaner and more sustainable future. Collaboration with companies like Edison Next, which possess not only the necessary experience but also a proactive approach to innovation in renewable energies, is key to advancing towards a more responsible energy model.
The installation will be carried out by Edison Next in the coming months. In parallel, six other self-consumption projects will be undertaken in other municipalities of the Balearic Islands, such as Manacor de la Vall, Palma, Alcudia, Maó, Ciutadella, and Sant Lluis, with the aim of turning them into smart and sustainable cities through this initiative that promotes more responsible energy use.
For its part, through this new initiative, Edison Next reinforces its commitment to sustainability and the fight against climate change, as well as to public institutions and municipalities. In the words of Teresa Cardona Tur from Edison Next, head of the Edison Delegation in Ibiza, “We are committed to leading the transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable future. This project is an example of our proactive approach to promoting renewable energies and encouraging their use in the territories where we operate.” “We firmly believe in the transformative power of solar energy and its ability to provide sustainable solutions to current energy challenges.”
With over 30 years of experience in the Balearic Islands and a highly qualified team of more than 100 people, Edison Next positions itself as a strategic ally for the implementation of sustainable energy projects in the community. The company’s presence on the islands for more than three decades has allowed it to understand the critical points of the area, especially the complexity derived from insularity, adapting its timelines and costs
of economic valuation to this reality. In this way, the energy specialist positions itself as one of the experts in energy transition in Spain, helping both public and private entities to move towards a greener, more efficient, and self-sufficient future.
