Edison Next leads an energy efficiency project in Alcalá de Henares with an investment of more than 1,700,000 euros.
The municipality of Alcalá de Henares has awarded Edison Next, an energy services company and subsidiary of the EDISON energy group and the French giant EDF, the ambitious project for the comprehensive renovation of its Zulema Social and Cultural Center, a vital place for the cultural and social life of Alcalá de Henares.
With the aim of strengthening and revitalizing the community spaces of the municipality, the Governing Board of the Alcalá de Henares City Council has decided to trust the experience and capacity of Edison Next in offering innovative solutions in the field of energy efficiency, to lead this novel initiative.
The energy company will have a period of 7 months to carry out the comprehensive renovation of the social and cultural center. This project, financed with an allocated budget of 1,788,189 euros, and which has funds from the European Union, specifically through the “Next Generation Funds,” will be executed with the aim of modernizing the facilities and improving the energy efficiency of the center.
To this end, among the various solutions that the energy company will implement, include the installation of a modern electrical system, the improvement of thermal insulation, and ensuring greater efficiency of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
Furthermore, as part of the added value of its proposal, Edison Next has committed to implementing an advanced Building Management System (BMS). This system will provide centralized and automated control of the various electrical and HVAC systems of the center, allowing for efficient management of energy resources and a notable improvement in the comfort of workers and users of the center. The BMS will not only ensure optimal operation of the facilities but will also significantly contribute to reducing energy consumption and mitigating the environmental footprint of the Zulema Social and Cultural Center.
“Through the BMS, we will be able to optimize the operation of the facilities, which will result in lower energy consumption and, therefore, significant long-term savings for the residents of Alcalá de Henares,” states José Miguel Cedillo, Head of B2G Central Agency & Site Manager of Edison Next. “Furthermore, by contributing to the reduction of the center’s environmental footprint, we will be taking an important step towards a more sustainable environment for its community.”
On the other hand, Edison Next will play a crucial role as a Delegated Entity in the Energy Savings Certificates (CAEs) system, a function that promises significant benefits for Alcalá de Henares. Thanks to its role as a Delegated Entity, Edison Next will not only certify and
manage the CAEs generated in the renovation project of the social and cultural center, but will also offer an economic return for the energy savings obtained.
This approach will not only promote energy efficiency in Alcalá de Henares but will also guarantee a profitable and sustainable investment for the municipality. Additionally, improving the energy efficiency of municipal facilities will contribute to reducing long-term energy costs and strengthening the environmental well-being of the community of Alcalá de Henares.
