Within this framework, Energy Savings Certificates (CAEs) emerge as a crucial tool that monetizes the energy savings achieved, driving the development of projects that might otherwise not be economically viable. Likewise, this system, in addition to facilitating reinvestment in sustainable technologies, is also creating a favorable environment for innovation and the adoption of green technologies, thus easing the transition towards a low-carbon economy. CAEs, documents that certify energy savings achieved through the implementation of energy efficiency measures, operate in a simple yet effective manner. When a company or organization implements actions that result in energy savings, it receives a corresponding number of CAEs, which allow companies to monetize those savings, recovering part of the investment made in such projects. This system offers a dual advantage by improving the profitability of sustainable projects and strengthening companies’ environmental commitment. Furthermore, thanks to reinvestment in new efficiency initiatives, a cycle of continuous improvement and progress towards sustainability is created. To facilitate the adoption and management of CAEs, the figure of the Delegated Subject has been introduced. This intermediary between companies and competent authorities energizes the system, offering specialized assistance in obtaining and managing the certificates. In our ongoing goal of helping companies improve their energy efficiency, at Edison we have decided to play a vital role in this process by acting as a Delegated Subject. As Delegated Subjects, we are not only simplifying the procedure for companies, but we also guarantee maximum transparency and efficiency in the administration of CAEs. Thanks to our experience in managing CAEs in countries like Italy or France, where the system has been in place for years, we have been able to optimize processes and ensure that our clients obtain the maximum benefit from their energy efficiency initiatives. This experience allows us to offer solutions tailored to the specific needs of each project, through a simplified procedure, while guaranteeing maximum transparency and efficiency in the administration of CAEs. Furthermore, to boost the development of energy efficiency projects, we offer the client the possibility of us assuming the initial investment as an energy services company, and then we share the resulting benefits with the clients over a set period. In this case, we transfer all the benefit of the CAEs to the end client to reduce the contract term or the annual fee, with the aim of further improving project profitability and reducing the initial investment by the client. In our country, we have already successfully managed CAEs for various projects, such as the replacement of refrigeration equipment that is allowing Plastipak to save over 1 GWh of electrical energy per year. This saving, thanks to our management and certification of CAEs, generated an additional benefit equivalent to 30% of the initial investment. Our forecasts indicate a firm commitment to energy efficiency in the coming years.
