Reasons to bet on photovoltaic self-consumption
Every business strategy must be carefully considered, and even more so when the decision to be made involves determining how and where to invest capital. In this context of crisis in which we find ourselves, characterized by uncertainty, corporations cannot avoid looking to the future and making decisions that take the environmental component into account.
There are different levers that can become the business allies of any corporation, but if there is one that stands out for its efficiency, it is investment in green and renewable energies, such as solar photovoltaic. Companies have a duty to respond to the climate emergency, and currently, this type of energy model is key to becoming a more efficient and responsible company.
Spain is one of the leading countries in the world in the use of this type of energy. We are fortunate to be a country with 300 days of sunshine, which favors continuous self-sufficient energy production for almost the entire year. Furthermore, with Royal Decree 244/2019 of April 5, the so-called “sun tax” was eliminated, so there is no type of fee or tax applied to solar photovoltaic energy.
On the contrary, European projects and funds are moving in the direction of promoting this clean and unlimited energy source both at the end-consumer level and among companies. Precisely, in the industrial world, this type of generation is essential to significantly reduce electricity bills, optimize consumption, and contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable future.
Renewable energy sources are a key piece in industry’s path toward a more efficient, less polluting world with lower greenhouse gas emissions. In fact, estimates from various market analysts agree in forecasting a shift by many companies toward alternative, clean, efficient, sustainable, and emission-free energy sources to contribute to the decarbonization of the planet.
With the help of photovoltaic solar panels located on the roof of the building or on a ground-mounted structure, any company or individual can now opt to generate the electricity needed for their own consumption; that is, they become producers of the electrical energy they need for their activity, from solar radiation that is transformed into energy through the photovoltaic effect.
Furthermore, photovoltaic panels have a very long lifespan, around 25-30 years, and if any of the panels fail, it can be replaced without issue, without affecting the operation of the rest of the system.
However, regardless of the corporation’s core business or its size, photovoltaic solutions adapted to each client currently exist, so the entire business fabric can opt for this potential savings, while contributing to leaving a better, carbon-free planet for future generations.
