Edison Next organizes a conference on sustainable management of public lighting in Palma de Mallorca.

Edison Next, an energy services company and subsidiary of the EDISON energy group and the French giant EDF, celebrates the first edition of the “Circular Management of Public Lighting in Mallorca” conference in Palma de Mallorca. This event, held in collaboration with the Palma City Council, represents a further step towards a sustainable future for the island and highlights the importance of the circular economy and collaboration among Mallorcan companies. The main objective of the workshop was to explore opportunities for industrial symbiosis between Edison Next and companies in Mallorca, with a special focus on efficient, sustainable, and circular management of public lighting. Collaboration between Edison Next and local entities promises to open new avenues for economic and environmental development on the island. The event featured prominent experts in the field of the circular economy, such as Rosaria Chifari, senior consultant at Fundació ENT; Álvaro Santana, junior consultant at Símbiosy; Anna Lluis, co-director of Símbiosy; and Alexandra Martínez, responsible for the management system at Edison Next. During the workshop, participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas, collaborate, and contribute to the design of sustainable industrial symbiosis solutions that improve the environmental, economic, and social sustainability of Mallorca. Additionally, throughout the day, key topics were discussed, such as the legislative framework on the circular economy, examples of good practices in the industrial field, and the mapping of Mallorcan companies involved in future industrial symbiosis projects. “This workshop represents an important step forward in our mission to promote sustainability in Mallorca. Collaboration between Edison Next and local companies and institutions has been fundamental in exploring new sustainability solutions for the island. We are committed to continuing to work together to implement these innovative ideas and thus contribute to a more attractive and sustainable future for the island,” says Alejandro Asensi, head of the Edison Next delegation in Palma de Mallorca. Edison Next has long demonstrated its commitment to energy innovation and sustainability in Mallorca through initiatives that have left a positive mark on the island. One of these initiatives includes the recent completion of the renovation of the exterior lighting of the Cathedral of Mallorca. Thanks to the project, a reduction in energy consumption for the cathedral’s lighting was achieved, reaching up to 40% through the implementation of state-of-the-art LED technology. On the other hand, the collaboration with AENA for the installation of new LED lighting at Son Bonet airport highlights Edison Next’s expertise and capacity in the field of energy efficiency. The project, with a contract awarded for an amount of 1,588,741 euros, succeeded in modernizing the airport’s lighting and generating significant energy savings. All of this reflects the trust placed in Edison Next by important entities to carry out initiatives that promote sustainability and efficiency on the island. The participation of each attendee was crucial to the success of the event and, more importantly, to the sustainable future of Mallorca. With a renewed commitment to sustainability and innovation, this workshop is expected to mark the beginning of a new era of responsible development on the island.
