Edison Next participates in the “Meeting of energy and digitally sustainable cities and territories”
The event, which will take place on May 27, 28, and 29 at the Rivas Vaciamadrid City Hall, will bring together experts from various companies, including Edison Next, to share knowledge and experiences on urban sustainability and digitalization.
The gathering will also feature the participation of several European cities, within the framework of the POWER-E-COM Project Meeting and the parallel conference on EU energy communities. Additionally, several member cities of the Spanish Network of Smart Cities (RECI) and other localities will attend, sharing their valuable initiatives in sustainable projects.
The event will include the presence of experts in the self-consumption, energy communities, and digitalization sectors. Each will contribute their vision and experiences on the development and evolution of distributed generation in our country, covering crucial topics such as behind-the-meter storage, demand aggregators, and energy communities.
Representing Edison Next, as part of the expert group participating in the discussion panels, several of our colleagues will attend. On one hand, our colleague Giulia Realmonte, Head of CAEs & e-Mobility at Edison Next, will participate in the panel on valorization of CAEs in the public and private sectors, which will take place on Tuesday, May 28, from 6:30 PM to 7:15 PM. Likewise, Jon Macías, Chief Commercial Officer at Edison Next Spain and President of APPA Renovables, will moderate the panel on energy communities and shared self-consumption initiatives.
On the other hand, in the panel on new business models, self-consumption PPAs, storage, aerothermal energy, and CAEs, our colleague Enrique Basagoiti, Sales Manager for Renewable Energies, Energy Efficiency, and Decarbonization in the Central Zone of Edison Next, will be present. His intervention will take place on Tuesday, May 28, from 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM, right after the cocktail. In this session, among other things, he will share our experiences and projects in Rivas, where we have implemented innovative energy solutions that promote efficiency and sustainability.
Among these, a savings and energy efficiency program in the municipality’s public preschool and primary schools stands out, using Building Management Systems solutions. This initiative, led by Edison Next, has reduced electricity consumption by over 6.9%, avoiding the emission of more than seven tons of CO2 over a nine-month period.
On the other hand, the photovoltaic project worth 300,000 euros awarded to us by the Rivas Vaciamadrid City Hall, in which we implemented state-of-the-art solar panels in various municipal facilities, provided an annual generation capacity of over 364,892 kWh of clean energy. This advancement not only promoted the transition to renewable energy sources but also contributes to environmental sustainability by avoiding the emission of more than 120 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.
Finally, the Smart City initiative in Rivas Vaciamadrid has been fundamental in driving sustainable urban development and improving the quality of life for its citizens. Thanks to the implementation of innovative technologies and efficient management strategies, the city has optimized its public services, infrastructure, and resources, thereby promoting energy efficiency and reducing polluting emissions. With over 40 municipal buildings intervened and more than 30,000 control points monitored, total savings in electricity, water, and gas equivalent to over 144 tons of CO2 and 2,320 trees have been achieved.
As an official sponsor of the event, at Edison Next, we are proud to contribute to promoting sustainability and innovation in the urban sphere, which has always been one of our main commitments. Our participation in this gathering reaffirms our dedication to developing advanced and sustainable energy solutions and, furthermore, strengthens our leadership and commitment to a greener and more technological future.
