Prats i Sansor decides to modernize its public lighting system with the help of Edison Next.
At Edison Next, we are committed to leading the transition towards energy efficiency, working every day to bring sustainable solutions to every corner of Spain. In line with this mission, we work closely with local administrations to supervise and optimize their lighting, and as a result of this collaboration, we have been selected to carry out a major project in the Catalan municipality of Prats i Sansor.
After reviewing the data collected from the 138 public lighting points in the municipality, it was imperative to modernize this lighting to improve its efficiency, while also providing significant economic benefits in the short and long term. In this context, the Prats i Sansor City Council has been receptive to global changes in sustainability and energy savings, opting to modernize the municipality’s public lighting by implementing LED luminaires.
The transition from old luminaires to innovative LED technology represents a strategic step towards energy efficiency that is gaining ground in cities across Spain and Europe. This change not only implies a considerable reduction in energy consumption but also leads to a notable optimization of long-term operating costs. The greater efficiency and energy utilization of LED luminaires quickly translates into a significant decrease in electricity bills, paving the way towards more sustainable economic management. Furthermore, their long lifespan and the reduction of maintenance and replacement costs, which are common with conventional luminaires, position this technology as a smart investment for the future of our cities.
The public lighting modernization project in Prats i Sansor falls within the Framework Agreement signed with the Catalan Association of Municipalities (ACM – “Associació Catalana de Municipis”), an entity created to address common issues among Catalan municipalities. Edison Next participated in the tender for this framework agreement, aimed at energy efficiency elements in public lighting, and was awarded 4 zones, one of which corresponds to the municipality of Prats i Sansor. This framework agreement allows municipalities to award projects directly to Edison Next, streamlining the process and ensuring transparency in contracting. In this way, Prats i Sansor has been able to benefit from the energy efficiency solutions offered by Edison Next directly and in accordance with the terms established in the framework agreement.
The project, with an execution period of 3 months, had a base budget of 48,190 euros. However, at Edison Next we have managed to reduce execution costs, bringing the final budget to just 42,587 euros, representing savings of over 5,000 euros for the residents of this Catalan municipality. Additionally, as this initiative falls within the European Union’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, it will be largely financed by the European Union’s Next Generation funds.
This project not only represents an opportunity for improvement for the inhabitants of Prats i Sansor but also stands as an inspiring benchmark for other communities. The collaboration between the public and private sectors driving this project shows the path towards sustainable development and innovation throughout the region.
At Edison Next, we have a deep conviction about the transformative power of these initiatives. We believe that every step towards sustainability and energy efficiency not only benefits the present but also lays the foundation for a cleaner and more responsible future for generations to come. That is why our dedication to leading the transition towards a more sustainable and efficient tomorrow is unwavering.
