Edison Next bets on energy efficiency to reduce energy consumption in offices and shops by up to 30%.
Edison Next, an energy services company and subsidiary of the EDISON energy group and French giant EDF, is setting a milestone in the field of energy efficiency with its innovative approach to Building Management Systems (BMS), reducing energy consumption in offices and commercial premises by up to 30%.
In a global context where energy efficiency has become crucial and everyone’s responsibility, the energy company has positioned itself at the forefront by offering a comprehensive and effective solution to optimize energy consumption in one of the most energy-intensive environments: the commercial and business sector.
Currently, the services sector accounts for up to 40% of energy consumption in a city. Specifically, offices and commercial premises are the main energy consumers, concentrating up to 65% of energy expenditure, with heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and lighting requiring the largest share. However, due to its great potential for consumption reduction, this sector represents a significant opportunity to advance on the path of energy efficiency.
In this scenario, the BMS system is confirmed as an essential tool for optimizing consumption. These solutions, such as the one proposed by Edison Next, monitor and coordinate resources and facilities to achieve energy expenditure reduction while maintaining high standards of well-being and comfort.
The BMS, through the use of IoT sensors distributed throughout the building, provides full knowledge of operation and consumption information, making it possible to take measures to optimize its use. Additionally, it proactively guides building maintenance, focusing on upcoming points of conflict (anticipating problems). Implementing this technology not only reduces energy consumption but has also proven highly useful in improving operational performance and environmental conditions, adapting them to the building’s needs in real time.
In this regard, Edison Next’s BMS system has managed to position itself as one of the most innovative and efficient options on the current market. This solution not only optimally supervises and controls ambient temperature but also integrates advanced data analytics techniques and demand management programs to ensure maximum comfort with the minimum energy footprint.
“At Edison Next, we see our BMS system as a fundamental contribution towards a more sustainable future in the business sector. Furthermore, the implementation of the BMS not only drives companies’ operational efficiency but also supports their corporate social responsibility,” says Alejandro Martín Calvo, Head of Commercial at Edison Next.
The commitment of companies and commercial premises to solutions like this has grown considerably in recent years. An efficient decision that, according to the latest regulations such as the Regulation of Thermal Installations in Buildings (RITE), could become mandatory for non-residential buildings with a useful nominal potential of more than 290 kW by 2025.
