Efficient and sustainable hotel facility management

In the middle of the summer season, hotel occupancy is rising again. This situation brings a significant source of income for the sector, especially after the situation caused by the pandemic. But, logically, the high occupancy level entails numerous economic and energy costs. And, hotel facilities are one of the businesses that allocate the most energy resources, even more so when we talk about a country with a great tourist tradition like Spain. According to data from the Hotel Technology Institute (ITH), energy consumption in Spanish hotels exceeds 1.23 billion euros per year. Thus, energy entails a significant expense for Spanish hotels, which could save important economic costs with real-time monitoring and control of energy consumption inside buildings. But, achieving maximum efficiency of the facilities while ensuring that users enjoy maximum comfort is the challenge faced by hotel facility managers. For several years, the vast majority of hotels have had control systems, but not all of them make the most of them. Currently, thanks to the Big Data generated by the facilities, collected by the BMS, building management can be carried out based on real data, which optimizes their operation to the maximum, extends the life of the equipment, and guarantees savings in energy and/or water consumption. Thus, for a complete management of the facilities, the building control system must take into account:
  • Comprehensive room control: comfort, occupancy -with connection to the reservation system-, lighting, curtains and windows, etc.
  • Common areas: comfort control, lighting, presence, etc.
  • Machine room: control of productions, distribution of cold and heat, DHW, ADS, etc.
  • Connection with third-party systems such as: fire protection systems, spas and pools, CRM, etc.
For a 360º management, with the help of the TrulyOpen® architecture of the BMS, you can count on the support of services that allow cross-cutting management, in which a team of experts ensures the reduction of detection, review, and repair times of the facilities, supported by tools such as WhyB® or BMSlytics®.
