Edison Next will be responsible for bringing a sustainable Christmas to 13 Spanish municipalities.

What would Christmas be without its Christmas lights? The splendor of Christmas lights brings a unique charm to our streets and homes, to the point that, nowadays, imagining the Christmas holidays without their lights and decorations is practically impossible. So much so that, for years, the switching on of Christmas lights has somehow become the start of the festivities. However, despite their beauty, the tradition of lights has involved a high energy consumption that has gone unnoticed and challenged energy efficiency. For this reason, a few years ago, at Edison Next we realized that this ecological footprint demanded an urgent reflection on how we could maintain the magic of Christmas on our streets, while being more responsible with the environment. At Edison Next, always maintaining our commitment to offer public and private institutions efficient and sustainable solutions that help them reduce their energy consumption and their impact on the environment, we are working with various cities in Spain to implement sustainability, efficiency, and energy savings in their public Christmas lighting. To achieve this, we are incorporating more efficient alternatives for their Christmas lighting, such as LED technology lights, which are undoubtedly the future for reducing the energy demand of the festivities and promoting a more sustainable celebration of them. In the Catalan city of Terrassa, for example, Edison Next will carry out the installation of 900 efficient Christmas motifs that will undoubtedly brighten and fill the city’s streets with Christmas magic for the enjoyment of its residents. The project, which will be inaugurated on December 25, has a budget of 100,000 euros and will allow the city to achieve considerable economic and energy savings. Similarly, the municipality of Molins de Rei has trusted the company to, with a budget of 35,000 euros, light up their Christmas and install 200 Christmas motifs. And like these two municipalities, Edison Next will light up the Christmas of up to 11 more municipalities, including, for example; Palma de Mallorca, Finestra, Torrelodones, Torrelles de Llobregat, etc. Innovation, research, and development are the pillars we rely on, and they also allow us to offer successful solutions, while facing the energy challenges that arise and that, undoubtedly, will continue to arise in the future.
